Fix Invalid Vendor Definitions: What the Red Warning Means
The Problem
You see a vendor definition row highlighted in red with a warning triangle. Something's wrong, but the error message is technical. What does "Purchase UOM does not convert to item default UOM" actually mean?
The Solution
This happens when the vendor's purchase unit can't mathematically convert to how you track the item. For example, if you track flour in kilograms but have a vendor definition set to liters - those don't convert. Fix it by updating the vendor's Purchase UOM.
How to Fix It
- Open the inventory item with the red warning
- Click on the invalid vendor definition row
- Find the Purchase UOM field
- Select a unit that converts to your item's Default UOM (weights to weights, volumes to volumes)
- Check Price Per Unit too - it has the same requirement
- Click Save

Pro Tip
This usually happens after changing an item's Default UOM. After any UOM change, review your vendor definitions to make sure they still make sense.
