Build Your Own Batch Lot Codes

One powerful feature at a time.

Build Your Own Batch Lot Codes

The Problem

Every brewery has a lot code style. Maybe you want the tank in there, maybe just the batch number. Retyping the lot on every package group gets old fast, and one slip makes your codes inconsistent.

The Solution

You can now define your standard lot code format once in your facility settings. BarSight fills it in for you whenever you package a batch, and you can still edit it before saving.

How to Use It

  1. Go to Brewery → Settings and open your facility.
  2. Find the Lot Numbers box.
  3. Pick a starting point from Lot Number Format, or choose Custom.
  4. Adjust the Lot Template using the placeholders below.
  5. Click Save.

Placeholders

  • {batch} batch number
  • {batch_id} internal batch id (001)
  • {product} product abbreviation
  • {tank} source tank
  • {yyyy} {yy} {mm} {dd} packaging date
  • {seq} package number within the batch (01, 02)

For example, {tank}.{batch}.{seq} gives FV3.45.01 for the first package from batch 45. Leave the template blank to keep the original format, like 001-45-01.

Pro Tip

Missing values are dropped and doubled separators are cleaned up, so a batch with no tank won't leave you with a stray dot. Also note that the lot is suggested once when the package form opens, so it won't change if you edit the package date afterward.
