We have an upcoming change for breweries in British Columbia related to how batches move through your tank setup.
Going forward, a beer will need to pass through a taxable tank before it can be packaged. Or if a batch is moving into a serving vessel instead of a taxable tank, that serving tank must be marked as taxable. This aligns with BC compliance requirements around taxable volumes.
Setting Up Taxable Tanks
You can designate which tanks are taxable by going to Brewery → Settings → [Select Location] and setting the appropriate tanks to Taxable.
Disabling the Requirement
If this requirement does not apply to your operation (or you don't use BarSight to generate your Excise reports), you can turn it off on the same settings page by selecting Disable Taxable Tank Requirement from the dropdown.
This feature will be activated for BC breweries shortly. If you have any questions about your tank setup before then, now is a great time to review your settings.
